Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession focused on helping people restore, maintain, and improve their movement, function, and overall well-being. It uses evidence-based to treat injuries, manage chronic conditions, and enhance physical performance—often without the need for surgery or long-term medication.


Sports massage is a specialised form of massage therapy designed to prevent and treat sports-related injuries, improve athletic performance, and support recovery. It involves the manipulation of soft tissues—such as muscles, tendons, and ligaments—using various techniques tailored to the specific needs of athletes or physically active individuals.

It will depend on your needs from the appointment. Physiotherapy may be a one of appointment for understanding and advice or may require a number of sessions to rehab an injury or work towards a goal. For sports massage you may have a big event or a niggling pain. You may just want regular maintenence every 4-6 weeks.


Something comfortable and easy to move around in. The physio may need to be able to see the affected area so bear this in mind.

Items like shorts for knee injury's and vest tops/ sports bras are ideal for shoulder assessments.


  1. Communicate effectively with your physio. They will work with you to understand the depths of your problem & identify goals to help you to progress effectively through treatment.
  2. Listen to your body, if you feel like something is too hard, too easy or causing you discomfort or pain we can work towards modifying treatment to fit your needs
  3. Be pro-active with your treatments. Physio won't be effective without joint effort from you and your Physio. You can set time oriented goals making it easier to stay motivated.
  4. Ask Questions - no question is a silly question.


Initial Appointment

This appointment is mostly about understanding what has brought you to Physio. It will involve a conversation about the history of the condition and relevant medical information, followed by a physical assessment. Depending on time remaining treatment in the form or and education, reassurance, exercise or manual therapy may be given (for massage treatment will be given within the allocated 60 mins) 

Follow up Appointments 

  • Your Physio will have a conversation with you about how you have been feeling since the first appointment, they will then re-assess and you'll work together to continue with treatment to achieve your goals.
